Testimonials

“Heather helped me rethink and refresh my resume after it had collected dust for a decade. She listened, understood, and provided excellent counsel. Her insightful, pragmatic and strategic approach worked wonders and produced results. She flat out “gets” it, as she understands the employer side of the hiring process and, equally important, has the gift of empathy for you at the individual level. That unique perspective worked seamlessly for me.”

Alec Maki, VP, Strategic Solutions, Bellomy Research

“Heather was amazing! She answered my initial contact within an hour. She was quick, to the point, asked the appropriate questions and got me. Within about 48 hours (far less than she quoted), she had created not just one, but two great resumes for me.”

“Heather’s advice helped us find a wonderful person to fill the role of Research Associate for our biotechnology startup. When you work in a small company, every person has a big impact. With Heather’s help, we found an enthusiastic candidate who will not only move the company forward, but will thrive the startup environment.”

Kathryn McCormick, Ph. D., Senior Scientist NemaMetrix, Inc.

“It was such a pleasure to work with Heather on our annual senior management 360-degree reviews. She came to the project with a willingness to work around our list of requests and requirements yet still provide some very insightful guidance and adjustments to our process. Her professionalism towards confidentiality, meeting tight deadlines, and presentation exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Heather’s services and hope to work with her again on our next 360-degree project and more.”

Roberta Kellis, HR Administrator / Operations Administrator Educational Policy Improvement Center

“Heather was instrumental in collaborating with our non-profit behavioral health agency to bring relevant, effective training to staff that addressed challenge and change related to health care reform. She recruited excellent presenters, coordinated the training with the local community college, and ensured that each detail was appropriately managed. I found her to be cheerful and communicative, checking in periodically while able to move forward independently.”

Targeted Resumes Podcast – Featured on Mac’s List

On June 7, 2023, I was featured on "Find Your Dream Job Podcast" and discussed targeted resumes with Mac Prichard, Founder of Mac's List. Mac's List is an effective PNW job board that also features fantastic job search advice & resources for job seekers. Mac and I had a delightful discussion about 1) tips on targeting your resume, 2) how the resume is about getting the interview and the interview is about securing the job, and 3) how to take credit for accomplishments on your resume when you were part of a team versus sole contributor. Listen to "Want [...]

I receive calls every day from individuals who confess that even the idea of writing their resume is the bane of their existence, and paralyzes their job search  or career change. With all the conflicting information and guidance about what should and shouldn’t be in a resume, I know it can be confusing.

Every person I work with is at a different stage of the process. Some have no idea where to begin. In these cases, I pull their experience, education and skill sets out of them with a variety of interview and document methods. Some have written their resume beforehand and find it just isn’t saying, or looking, how they want it to for the job(s) they are going after. They might not even know how they want it to look. Whichever one you are, or somewhere in between, my passion and goal is to ensure your resume experience is easy and, dare I say, enjoyable.

Resume Gatekeepers & ATS Optimization

I have written targeted and accomplishment based resumes for professionals in all careers and industries across the nation. In addition, I have been on both sides of the aisle, as a recruiter, hiring leader and human resources professional for over twenty five years. I know what employers are looking for.

And, I’ve mastered the art of crafting a resume that meets the expectations of all three gatekeepers to the coveted interview – the automated applicant tracking systems (ATS), the resumes screeners and the actual hiring leaders. When designing/creating a resume, it is crucial to address the expectations of all the gate keepers to increase the chances of an interview. Knowing how to hold their attention is crucial to getting to the top of the pile.

Relevant to the Employer Content

In this current market, HR and hiring leaders are desperate for qualified candidates. This is great news for you! If you have an outstanding targeted resume, and you believe you have the experience the job requires (even maybe transferrable skills), your chances of getting interviewed and hired have increased exponentially!

But, here is a little secret. What your resume looks like isn’t as important as the content. All that matters is relevant-to-the-employer content, “moving” their eye on the paper the way you want them to see it, and no spelling or glaring grammatical errors.

Being very direct, I would love the opportunity to write your resume and help you achieve your career dreams. Or, if you are a DIY kind of person, check out my online resume course, complete with proven templates and bonus job search videos.
